In fact, she stayed at home, forging ahead on her deadlines.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>[ad fullwidth]\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>When she arrived, the staff knew about her previous medical history and her symptoms, which she had submitted online.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>\"They were already informed when I walked in the door,\" McGeever says, \"which was amazing.\"\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Direct Urgent Care's online system is called \u003ca href=\"https://nextpatient.co/\" target=\"_blank\">NextPatient\u003c/a>. It's available—for free—to every medical practice in the U.S. that wants it.\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>\"If we can shift the waiting experience from the waiting room to your living room,\" says company founder David Rodriguez, \"it’s a much better experience.\"\u003c/p>\n\u003cp>Websites that book doctor's appointments online, like \u003ca href=\"https://www.zocdoc.com/\" target=\"_blank\">ZocDoc\u003c/a>, \u003ca href=\"https://clockwise.md/\" target=\"_blank\">Clockwise MD\u003c/a> and \u003ca href=\"http://www.practicefusion.com/\" target=\"_blank\">Practice Fusion\u003c/a>, have been around for several years.\u003c/p>\n\u003caside class=\"pullquote alignright\">‘The last thing you want to do is feel crummy in a waiting room with other people.
