President Trump said Thursday that the U.S. would help investigate the suspected murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khahoggi but that he would not stop arms deals with Saudi Arabia or take other punitive actions. Khahoggi disappeared after visiting the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul last week, and anonymous Turkish officials told the New York Times he was assassinated by Saudi agents. Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress are calling for an end to arms sales to the Saudis, potential sanctions and investigations into the suspected murder.
