A man sits in front of a home stereo system.

San Francisco-based musician Scott Hansen, who records under the name Tycho, spent his 20s as a graphic designer who made electronic music in his spare time. After an injury forced him to take a few months off work, he started getting more serious about music. Tycho earned a Grammy nomination last year for the album “Epoch.” Hansen, who grew up outside Sacramento, joins us to talk about his career, his recent work and his upcoming New Year’s show at the Fillmore. We’ll also talk to him about the Bay Area electronic music scene in the wake of last year’s tragic Ghost Ship warehouse fire.
