Investigators inspect a truck following a shooting incident in New York on October 31, 2017. Several people were killed and numerous others injured in New York on Tuesday when a suspect plowed a vehicle into a bike and pedestrian path in Lower Manhattan, and struck another vehicle on Halloween, police said. (Photo: Don Emmert/AFP/Getty Images)

A man killed eight people and wounded at least a dozen others when he drove his truck off the road in New York City on Tuesday afternoon. Police shot the man, who remains in custody. NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio called it a “cowardly act of terror”. Officials also called it a terrorist attack, though New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also said it was the act of a “lone wolf” and “no evidence… suggests a wider plot or a wider scheme.” We discuss the attack.
