Robin Sloan‘s latest book, “Sourdough,” draws on the juxtaposition of two of the Bay Area’s obsessions: technology and food. The heroine, Lois, is stuck in a draining job as a software engineer until a revelatory meal inspires her to chase her passion: baking bread. Sloan, who lives in Berkeley, also wrote “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore,” about a laid-off tech worker who finds a new life in a San Francisco bookstore. He joins us to talk about his work and the intersection of tech and what he calls the Bay Area’s “weird world of food.”
