“Ear hustle” is prison slang for eavesdropping. It’s also the title of a new podcast from San Quentin prison, created by two inmates, Earlonne Woods and Antwan Williams, in collaboration with art professor Nigel Poor. The podcast talks about life in prison, from keeping pets to choosing cellmates to spending years inside the solitary housing unit. KQED’s Mina Kim visited San Quentin to talk with Woods and Williams. In this segment, we’ll hear excerpts from that recorded interview and talk with Poor live, here in the KQED studios.

Guests:
Earlonne Woods, co-host and co-creator, “Ear Hustle”; serving a 31-years-to-life sentence for attempted second degree robbery
Antwan Williams, co-creator and sound engineer, “Ear Hustle”; serving a 15-year sentence for armed robbery with a gun enhancement
Nigel Poor, co-host, co-creator & co-producer , “Ear Hustle”; photography professor, California State University Sacramento
