Anne-Marie Slaughter made waves when she declared in a 2012 Atlantic cover article that working mothers could not have it all and that her success as a university dean and U.S. State Department official would not have been possible without a lot of help at home from her husband. In fact, Slaughter and her husband, Princeton professor Andrew Moravcsik, deliberately decided to have him take on the role of “lead parent” in raising their two sons. Moravcsik joins us to talk about the benefits, if not necessity, for dual-career households to designate a primary parent, how a couple decides who should take on that role and what it looks like when that role is filled by Dad.

Guests:
Andrew Moravcsik,
professor of politics and international affairs, and director of the European Union program, Princeton University
