Another bout of ransomware has attacked companies around the world, echoing May’s global outbreak of the so-called WannaCry attack, which demanded ransoms to unlock computers it had remotely taken over. The latest cyberattack mostly targeted Eastern Europe — including Ukraine’s largest airport and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. But the United Kingdom and the United States have also been hit, with drug giant Merck confirming that it’s global networks have also fallen victim to the ransomware. We talk with IT experts about ransomware, malware and what the recent escalation in attacks means for individual and corporate security.
