On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed a range of executive orders relating to immigration, including a declaration to begin immediate construction of an additional wall along the U.S. Mexico border. The orders also include increasing the number of immigration officers who carry out deportations and stripping federal funding from sanctuary cities like San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. He also plans to block refugees from Syria and other “terror prone” nations. We discuss how the administration’s new approach will affect legal and illegal immigrants, the cost of building a wall and what the loss of federal funding could mean for the Bay Area.
