On Wednesday, Uber announced that its customers could start hailing self-driving taxis in San Francisco. But later that day, the California Department of Motor Vehicles sent the company a cease and desist letter, saying they hadn’t secured the correct permits. Uber maintains it doesn’t need the permits because the test vehicles have a driver/monitor behind the wheel. We’ll discuss the issue, including new reports of a video showing a self-driving Uber running a red light in San Francisco this week.
