Donald Trump delivered a scathing attack on Hillary Clinton in a speech on Wednesday, calling her a “world class liar” who “gets rich making you poor.” Trump’s supporters hope the new offensive will help shift the narrative away from that of a campaign in disarray. On Monday, Trump fired his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and reports indicate the presumptive GOP nominee is well behind Clinton in raising funds. Clinton, for her part, blasted Trump for “outlandish lies and conspiracy theories.” We’ll talk with political reporters about the campaigns and other political news, including Wednesday’s sit-in by House Democrats to demand a vote on gun legislation.

Guests:

Joe Garofoli, senior political writer, San Francisco Chronicle

Tamara Keith, NPR White House correspondent covering the presidential election; co-host of the NPR politics podcast
