Prospects Dim for Drought Relief as California Snowpack Falls Below Average

Despite a strong start in December, El Nino storms failed to manifest into a wet winter in the Bay Area. This fact was confirmed on Tuesday when California’s Department of Water Resources announced that the statewide snowpack was only 83 percent of normal for this time of year. Water officials warn that Californians must continue to conserve water. We’ll discuss the snowpack, which accounts for about a third of the state’s water supply and the likelihood of upcoming storms improving the situation.
