San Francisco's New Jail Up for Board of Supervisors Vote

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors will vote next week on whether to build a controversial new jail. Mayor Ed Lee says the city needs the new $240 million facility because the current jail is decrepit and seismically unsafe. But opponents, including District Attorney George Gascon, say the city should instead be building mental health facilities and providing alternatives to incarceration.
