Women make up less than 50 percent of students graduating from accredited U.S. architecture programs, and only 18 percent of those go on to become licensed architects. So what happens to that missing 32 percent? That’s the question that Rosa Sheng is asking. She founded Equity by Design, a committee within the American Institute of Architects in San Francisco, which surveyed thousands of architects about equal pay, child care and job satisfaction. She joins us to discuss her findings, and talk about why there are so few women taking leadership roles or winning major prizes in architecture.
