Democratic State Senator Carol Liu (D-La Cañada Flintridge) is proposing a new law that requires all bike riders (not just minors) to wear helmets. Liu sees it as a way to make cycling safer. But some bike advocates oppose the plan, saying a helmet law would actually make it less safe to ride a bike. We take up the debate for and against helmets.

Guests:

Dave Snyder, executive director of the California Bicycle Coalition

Robert Oakes, legislative director for State Senator Carol Liu, who represents the 25th district, which includes Burbank, Glendale and Pasadena
