 (Ann Summa/RED)

Author Rachel Kushner rode motorbikes and sported red streaks in her hair during her days at UC Berkeley — not too different from the heroine of her latest novel, “The Flamethrowers.” Kushner joins us to talk about the book, whose protagonist is a 20-something artist in 1970s New York. The novel was shortlisted for the 2013 National Book Award.

Guests:

Rachel Kushner, author of "The Flamethrowers" and "Telex from Cuba"
