Liam O’Brien was a successful actor just back in San Francisco after years of performing in “Les Miserables” on Broadway when he became entranced by a butterfly fluttering in his backyard. That butterfly — a Western Tiger Swallowtail — sparked an obsession that would change the course of his life. O’Brien has spent the last few decades learning everything about local butterflies and moths, and championing their preservation. O’Brien joins us as part of our First Person series highlighting the leaders, innovators and others who make the Bay Area unique.
