Once a bustling Navy refueling station, Richmond’s Point Molate is now a potential site for a Las Vegas-style casino to be managed by the Guidiville Band of Pomo Indians. Local opposition to the plan is strong, with nearly 58 percent of voters voting “No” on Measure U last November — a non-binding measure that asked residents whether they supported the plan. Next week, the Richmond City Council will hold a public hearing on the issue, which could end the Environmental Review phase in the project’s development. We hear from both sides of the debate.

Guests:

Michael Derry, CEO of Guidiville Tribe

Jim Levine, managing partner of Upstream, LLC, the developer in favor of the casino project

Jeff Ritterman, councilman for the City of Richmond

David Helvarg, Richmond resident and member of Citizens for a Sustainable Point Molate
