Richmond councilwoman Jovanka Beckles and political strategist Buffy Wicks are vying to represent California’s 15th Assembly district, which stretches from North Oakland to Hercules. Although Wicks won the primary with over 31 percent of the vote, the race between Beckles and Wicks has become one of California’s most competitive and expensive legislative races. Political junkies across the country are watching the race as it echoes divisions within the Democratic party, with Bernie Sanders’ “Our Revolution” group endorsing Beckles and Barack Obama endorsing Wicks. The candidates join Forum to share their visions for the district.
