White House: Putin Asked Trump to Let Russia Question Michael McFaul

This week, Stanford professor and former U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul found himself at the center of the firestorm over President Trump’s Helsinki meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed Wednesday that Putin asked Trump to have Russian prosecutors question McFaul, and that Trump was open to it. “[Trump] said it was an interesting idea. He didn’t commit to anything,” Sanders said. McFaul joins us to respond to the news.
