William Scott became San Francisco’s police chief early this year after former chief Greg Suhr was forced out amid numerous controversies including several officer-involved fatalities and a scandal involving racist and homophobic texts between officers. Chief Scott came to San Francisco from Los Angeles, where he was the highest ranking African-American police officer. Forum talks to Chief Scott about efforts to reform the city’s beleaguered police department and restore the community’s trust in their police force.
