A blaze tore through a two-story converted warehouse in Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood on Friday night, claiming the lives of at least 36 people attending a late night party there. The warehouse, known as the “Ghost Ship,” was home to a community of artists and had been under investigation for a range of permit and safety violations.
