President Obama this week announced he’ll send 560 more troops to Iraq to aid in the fight against ISIS. The move is meant to take advantage of what military officials say are important gains made by Iraqi forces in the past several weeks. Most of the newly deployed troops will be based at a airfield near Mosul, in an attempt to retake that city, the largest still held by ISIS. Forum discusses the escalation of forces in Iraq and assesses the progress in the fight against ISIS in the Middle East.
