Homelessness in San Francisco seems like a problem that will never go away. At a recent vigil, about 100 names were read aloud of people who died in the streets this year of hypothermia, stabbings, suicide or overdoses. It was the 21st year the dead have been honored in this way. We evaluate the record of departing Mayor Gavin Newsom, who has moved more homeless into supportive housing than any other San Francisco mayor.
