Supporters of KPFA radio in Berkeley have been protesting recent layoffs at the community station. KPFA’s parent network, Pacifica, has cut the equivalent of seven full-time positions, including both hosts and the staff of KPFA’s most popular locally produced program, the Morning Show.

Pacifica says the cuts were necessary in a bad economy, but KPFA supporters say killing the program that brings in the most pledge dollars doesn’t make any sense.

Guests:

Arlene Engelhardt, executive director of the Pacifica Foundation

Larry Bensky, former National Affairs correspondent for Pacifica Radio and former host of KPFA's Sunday Salon
