Leslie Sbrocco, host of Taste This, visits with Gayle Okumura Sullivan, owner of Dry Creek Peach and Produce to turn really ripe fruit into a tart and tangy addition to cocktails, that keeps well through the season.

    Recipe: Holiday Shrub Cocktail
  • 1 scoop lime sherbert
  • 1.5 oz cranberry shrub
  • Top with prosecco
    Shrub Facts:
  1. Also known as drinking vinegar, this traditional method of preserving fruit can keep refrigerated for approximately 6 months. If opened and used occasionally, the shrub will last 6-8 weeks (to be safe).
  2. Shrub beverages have its origins in Colonial America with traditional influence from 17th century England, where vinegar was used to preserve fruits for the off-season. With the advent of refrigerations, shrubs eventually fell out of favor until the recent craft cocktail boom.
  3. Shrubs have proven health benefits such as improving digestion, supporting weight loss, detoxing the liver, regulating glucose levels for diabetics, among many other positive effects
