Ian Samuels

Ian Samuels is a filmmaker and puppetry artist based in Los Angeles. His hybrid work has screened internationally at festivals and venues including Telluride Film Festival, Slamdance, Iris Prize, Fantastic Fest, REDCAT, and Outfest. He received his BFA from Bard College in film and video and a MFA from California Institute of the Arts in film directing. He is a recipient of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences scholarship and has worked for the Jim Henson Company and Sesame Street. His illustrated storybook Gwendolyn and the Underworld, about a young Pet Reaper who ventures to solve the mystery behind her Overworld roots, was printed in 2012. He works as a director for Benjamin Millepied’s ballet company Amoveo.
