About KQED Education

Your Ally in Teaching Media Literacy and Amplifying Youth Voice 

KQED serves educators and students nationwide by providing free,  high-quality resources that strengthen media literacy skills, empower youth voice and encourage civil discourse.  As a nonprofit and a leader in media innovation, KQED provides standards-aligned classroom content and professional development courses that educators can trust. The KQED education team is comprised of educators and experienced media professionals with a passion for equity and access in education.

KQED’s free educational services include:

  • KQED Teach
    Self-paced, online courses teach educators to create multimedia and integrate media literacy into their curriculum–across subjects and grades.
  • PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification
    Created by KQED in partnership with PBS, educators can earn this certification by completing 8 micro-credentials.
  • KQED Learn
    A safe, online space for middle and high school students to practice media literacy and civic discourse skills with peers nationwide.
  • Above the Noise
    Co-created with youth, this video series investigates controversial topics relevant to students’ lives.
  • Youth Takeover of KQED
    Each year, student-produced stories take over the airwaves of KQED for one week in the spring.
