If you are a K-12 classroom teacher, instructional coach or librarian anywhere in the U.S. who is passionate about making media, amplifying youth voice and increasing civic engagement, learn more about becoming a KQED Media Literacy Innovator. Apply by April 28!

Applications are now open for the KQED Media Literacy Innovators 2019-2020 cohort. This program brings together educator ambassadors who successfully integrate critical thinking about media and media-making skills into their classrooms, or who provide media literacy training to other educators. These education leaders collaborate with KQED over the course of a year to share their expertise with KQED and create the best professional development and classroom resources on media literacy.

“As a media literacy ambassador, I am in contact with teachers, counselors, admin and district personnel from across the country, and I have upped my game as a teacher inside and out. Most importantly, my students feel they are on the cutting edge of NGSS, real world science, careers, hot issues and more because of the things I bring into the classroom, like KQED Learn. I am proud of the media and science literacy I bring to them.”
– Jayne Lecky, High School Science & Art

KQED Media Literacy Innovators enjoy benefits such as

  • Joining a community of fellow education leaders you can share ideas and strategies with.
  • Early access to forthcoming KQED resources and services.
  • Support and tools from KQED to help you empower peers in your school and district, and inspire your students.
  • The opportunity to be eligible for nomination to the PBS Digital Innovator All-Stars program.

“The KQED teacher ambassador program is an enlightening, collaborative and inspiring experience. It has pushed me to stretch my own professional expertise, with outstanding support from my ambassador colleagues, and to pass that creative inspiration on to my students in all aspects of technology curriculum integration.”
– Jeff Brain, Middle School Digital Media, Music, Poetry, Speech and Debate

Applications are being accepted through April 28, 2019.
