Elia Ruano describes her journey to becoming a radiologist.  She explains the English requirements and also the how the Radiology Certificate program at Canada prepared her to practice in the field.  The only education prerequisite for admission to a program is usually a high school diploma or equivalent.

Radiology certificate and diploma programs ground students in the techniques used in radiological imaging – imaging procedures and use of imaging equipment. Programs also offer contextualized learning which help students to communicate effectively in a medical environment and develop professional skills

The interviews will be posted on kqed.org and outline the steps required to reach career goals. They follow a format which addresses questions, such as:

• What did it take to qualify – how did you get there?
• What motivated you to choose this job?
• What does it involve – what do you do?
• Would you recommend this job & what kind of person (with what qualities) would be ideal for this job?

The initial set of Work Voices modules will be tested in ESL classrooms and reviewed after student and instructor feedback.
