CPI tracks money helping to fuel the climate change legislation debates and maintains a database compiled from lobbying disclosure reports filed with the Secretary of the Senate\u2019s Office of Public Records. (Read about the project&#8217;s methodology <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicintegrity.org\/investigations\/climate_change\/pages\/methodology\/\">here<\/a>.) The data does not include lobbying activity aimed at state laws and regulations, or dollars spent on advertising campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Climate Watch intern David Ferry combed the data and mapped the lobbying efforts based in California.\u00a0 Chevron and PG&amp;E top the list with $36 million and $34 million spent since 2003, respectively. Intel ranks third with $12 million. Our map skims the top of the database, showing only those organizations with more than a half-million dollars in spending.<\/p>\n<p><a
