Jan Brewer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/arizonarepublic\/news\/articles\/2010\/02\/11\/20100211climate-brewer0211.html\">issued an executive order<\/a> backing out of the carbon trading program.<\/p>\n<p>And today, an online publisher quotes a key official in California&#8217;s carbon trading program, that the state stands to lose its last remaining US partner, New Mexico. As Colin Sullivan of <em>E&amp;E<\/em> reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">Kevin Kennedy, assistant executive officer in charge of the Office of Climate Change at the California Air Resources Board, told lawyers during a forum sponsored by Law Seminars International that the election results likely mean New Mexico will not participate in the fledgling WCI, at least at the outset of the market starting Jan. 1, 2012.<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman;\">&#8220;The change in administration probably takes New Mexico out of the situation,&#8221; Kennedy said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>(Subscription required for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eenews.net\/pm\/2011\/01\/12\/4\">full article<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last week New Mexico&#8217;s new governor, Susana Martinez, <a title=\"LAT - post\" href=\"http:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/greenspace\/2011\/01\/cap-and-trade-new-mexico-global-warming-climate-change.html\">announced that she was removing all members<\/a> of the state&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmenv.state.nm.us\/eib\/\">Environmental Improvement Board,<\/a> &#8220;because of\u00a0what she said was its &#8216;anti-business&#8217; policies.&#8221;\u00a0 Last year, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/ap\/financialnews\/D9J8CB2O1.htm\">EIB approved measures<\/a> for the state to limit emissions and join the WCI&#8217;s cap-and-trade program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s looking more and more like California will lose its last US partner in a regional cap &amp; trade program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11413,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[193,384,435,668],"coauthors":[],"series":[],"affiliates":[],"programs":[],"collections":[],"interests":[],"class_list":["post-10319","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-government-business","tag-emissions","tag-new-mexico","tag-policy","tag-wci"],"acf":{"template_type":"standard","featured_image_type":"standard","is_audio_post":false},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Another One Bites the Dust?
