I met Julia Child several times and was a huge fan. So when I heard that David did an uncanny impression of her, I had to ask him to show us. He didn’t quite channel the legendary chef but did give us a good laugh. David’s pick of Chapeau! was a favorite, and we couldn’t stop talking about the desserts or wine list between takes. It’s most definitely a place to visit for wine (and sweets) lovers. Speaking of wine, it was terrific having Sonya on the show since we had met several months before when I was speaking at a wine event. Sipping on set took on new meaning as both David, a wine collector, and Sonya are huge lovers of the grape (myself included). Wendy was a dynamo and total foodie. She and Sonya also seemed to connect though they had opposite ideas about Red Sea. They’ve planned to go back together and see why eating with your hands is a good thing. Could be another show.

Wine of the Week:

2004 Morgan Sauvignon Blanc, Monterey, California $15
Less herbal and more tropical than other versions of Sauvignon, this is a ripe, juicy wine from one of California’s top white wine makers. Try it with scallops or chicken burritos.

Merlot is all about texture, and this wine has got it in spades. Soft, supple and velvety, it not only feels good to sip but also tastes good. Dark berry fruit flavors are rounded out with a hint of minty complexity.
