Joe Landini Celebrates 25 Years of Making Dance

Choreographer and dancer Joe Landini is celebrating a career spanning 25 years — not an easy thing in the dance world, where bodies take a beating. Landini’s work has always been cutting-edge, and so it’s just as impressive that Landini has signed a long-term lease in the Tenderloin for his studio, Safehouse, where he’ll continue inviting choreographers to create and stage their work for cheap. Landini is staging a mini-festival for the occasion(s), titled 5 on 25. It’s a kind of ‘This is Your Life, Joe Landini,’ with a new work by Landini, plus premieres by longtime collaborators Alma Esperanza Cunningham, Nina Haft, Ronja Ver, and an encore presentation of his collaboration with Amy Lewis called  SoMa Now and Then.
