We’re featuring a show by The Grouch, former member of the rap crew Living Legends, because he’s playing the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, one of the first places to offer free meals, WiFi, and computers to fire victims immediately after the fires — just one more example of how arts institutions jumped in to help in the aftermath. The Grouch has plenty of connections to the Bay Area — he grew up in Oakland and is the son of bluesman Stu Blank, the wild keyboardist who played every single dive bar, honky tonk and theater in Sonoma County before he died in Santa Rosa in 2001.
The Grouch plays the Mystic on Tuesday, Nov. 28; the Ace of Spades in Sacramento on Wednesday, Nov. 29; the Warfield in San Francisco on Nov. 3; and the Catalyst in Santa Cruz on Dec. 12. Details here.
