Aladdin is playing at the SHN Orpheum Theatre

I didn’t see Aladdin, the touring version of Disney’s Broadway musical adaptation of the animated musical, but my co-host Jamedra Brown Fleischman went. She says that despite her strong dislike for musicals and concerns about a show which still raises the hackles of Arab-Americans over the movie’s fake Orientalism, she was pleasantly surprised. The lavish sets and costumes made for satisfying eye-candy while fans of the original film (in which Robin Williams stole the show as the genie), will have a great time singing along to songs (Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin), they didn’t know they still remember. If you like confetti showers, she says, she can recommend the show. The show runs at SHN Orpheum Theatre until Jan. 7, 2018; details here.
