Robert Dekkers makes gorgeous dances at the intersection of ballet and modern for his company Post:Ballet. Early this year, Dekkers was introduced to an album by Patrick Haggerty that inspired his newest project. Lavender Country was the world’s first gay country band and album, released in 1973. Dekkers notes the music was radical for its time, and remains as relevant as ever.
“It is for people who have an interest and a passion for love, and equality and freedom,” Dekkers said. “And if you believe in those things, this music is for you.” Haggerty performs the songs live for these performances. History in the making.
