Lizzo sings about being happy with how you look and who you are. That sort of self-love does not always come easy in this world for a plus-size black woman, but then Lizzo is no ordinary singer. She started as a rapper in Houston, shrugging off a church upbringing, then moved to Minneapolis and worked with Prince. She now hosts a live music show on MTV called Wonderland. My co-host on the Do List this week, A-lan Holt, says she loves Lizzo’s high-energy, full bodied performances. Catch her at the the Fillmore on Nov. 9 before she plays an even bigger venue.
