I love Open Mike Eagle. He’s kind of a geek, wearing glasses and rapping about everything from iPads to the Robert Taylor Homes, a Chicago housing project that was home to members of his family for years before it was demolished. He’s also a film and TV writer and Comedy Central has picked up a series based on his live show with Baron Vaughn, ‘The New Negroes.’ You won’t see a more thoughtful show this year. For his gig at the Independent in San Francisco, details here.
