A lot of theater directors, we’re guessing, spent the period after Donald Trump’s election wondering how to address the state of the nation, gender politics, and how polarized we are in America. The Cutting Ball Theater explores those themes as it kicks off its fall season with a revival of Paula Vogel’s The Mineola Twins, a satire on the rise of the women’s movement and the backlash against it, as seen through the eyes of twin sisters.

The play spans the years from Eisenhower to the first President Bush; the 1950s through the 1980s. Producing Associate Artistic Director Ariel Craft directs the play. “In this political landscape, we are struggling to find common ground with the people in our country,” she says in a Cutting Ball video. “And this show is especially important, because it speaks directly to that. Maybe it can provide us with some insightful tools for how we can move forward, and find common ground where common ground seems to not exist.” Now that’s a radical notion. Details here.
