“Why citizenship?” is the central question for Transform, a new biannual festival at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts — an institution that takes its civic responsibilities very seriously in the age of Trump, especially regarding his attempts to deport the undocumented and limit immigration. Transform features the work of nine local artists, with a lot of dance, including new works by Amy Seiwert and her company, drag queen Fauxnique, and Sandra Lawson Ndu, a singer and composer with the band Bells Atlas. The festival runs Sept. 14–23 at YBCA; details here.
