This year’s Treasure Island Music Festival will now be held on the island’s eastern shore, in light of extensive development on Treasure Island.

Organizers previously announced that this would be the festival’s final year on site and are currently deliberating next year’s location.

“We’ll be relocating and evolving this event in 2017, but at its core, it will stay the same: an intimate and carefully crafted festival experience filled with incredible music performances,” Treasure Island Music Festival co-founder Jordan Kurland said in a statement. “For now though, we’re grateful to have one final year on the island to give it a proper goodbye.”

The relocation from the festival’s previous location at the Great Lawn on the island’s west side — which offered skyline views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge — will instead offer festival-goers both new views and new access to the East Bay, with an East Bay shuttle set to join the festival’s San Francisco-based fleet.

The eastern pier will also be the new venue for the event’s 60-foot Ferris wheel and annual Silent Disco. The new site, now mostly concrete and dirt, will also be transformed with stages, booths, and an expanded VIP area, which offers wider viewing areas and improved accessibility between stages.

Redevelopment on Treasure Island began in March, and plans to bring 8,000 new housing units, hotel rooms and a new ferry station to the area. The San Francisco Arts Commission also plans to reinvigorate Treasure Island by investing $50 million from the construction’s costs toward public art.
