Where to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the Bay Area, From Buffets to Food Markets

As the fasting month of Ramadan comes to an end, Muslims around the world are preparing for Eid al-Fitr: “The feast of breaking the fast.”

Whether you’re looking to gather with the community to enjoy delicious food, meet new people or find an Eid party happening near you, keep reading for just some of the events taking place around the Bay Area to mark the occasion.

Since Eid will take place on either Tuesday, April 9 or Wednesday, April 10 — depending on sightings of the moon — be extra sure to check the date on the events below. Not all of them will land on Eid, or will adjust for when Eid is.

Eid buffets, dinners, and food markets

• April 9: Grand Eid-Al-Fitr Chand Raat in Newark
• April 9: Chandraat for a Cause at Zareen’s in Palo Alto
• Eid Day: Eid brunch buffet at Mangal in Sunnyvale, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. ($30 per person, $15 for kids)
• Eid Day: Eid buffet at Kabab & Curry’s in Cupertino ($35 per person)
• April 10–14: Eid lunch and dinner buffets at IGrill Kababs & Biryani in Santa Clara ($20 per person)
• April 13: Halalcon’s Eid Bash in Hayward
• April 13: Eid lunch buffet at Curry Leaves Bistro in Pleasanton ($45 per person)
• April 13: Ansar Family & Convert Community Eid Launch at the Masjid Al-Huda mosque in Union City
• April 21: Eid Brunch at SanDai in Walnut Creek 11 a.m.–3 p.m. ($65 per person, $35 for kids age 12–18, free for kids under 12; reservations recommended via Eventbrite)
