On Monday, Nicki Minaj announced a 2024 world tour that opens at the Oakland Arena on March 1. The news comes after the chart-topping rapper dropped Pink Friday 2 — the long-anticipated sequel to her 2010 debut — on Dec. 8. Minaj’s Oakland Arena show will be her first Bay Area appearance since 2015, when she headlined the Concord Pavilion. The tour continues into June with stops across the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Pink Friday 2 World Tour tickets go on sale to the general public on Dec. 15, but there are a few ways to snag them beforehand. Citi cardholders get access to a presale that begins on Dec. 12 at 9 a.m., which is also when VIP packages go on sale.

On Dec. 13 at 9 a.m., there’s an artist presale at 9 a.m. for fans registered through Minaj’s website. On Dec. 14 at 9 a.m., there’s a LiveNation presale with the access code “BACKSTAGE” or “CREW,” as well as a Ticketmaster presale for people signed up for emails from the company. There’s also a Spotify presale for active Minaj listeners, and a venue presale for those who are subscribed to Oakland Arena newsletters. More info on how to find presale codes from Ticketmaster can be found here.

With a tracklist of hardcore rap bangers and confessional pop songs, Pink Friday 2 signals a return to form for Minaj, whose mastery of both forms earned her respect as a top-tier spitter and genre-bending collaborator. Throughout the project, she asserts her place in the pop music pantheon with samples from icons like Cyndi Lauper, Rick James and Blondie, and intersperses declarations of dominance with vulnerable reflections on motherhood.

The 12-time Grammy-nominated artist broke barriers and became the reigning queen of rap in the 2010s, opening the doors for other chart-toppers who followed. Minaj’s impact is indisputable, but her legacy has at times been contentious and complicated; Pink Friday 2 is an opportunity to look back at the magnitude of her enduring influence.
