The Santa Rosa Symphony had a terrific run under the leadership of Music Director Bruno Ferrandis, but this season they’re testing out conductors for a permanent replacement. Maryland born Andrew Grams, also music director of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, leads the orchestra in a program that includes a Ravel piano concerto. Stewart Goodyear is the soloist, and he released a gorgeous collection of Ravel’s piano sonatas earlier this year. My co-host Gabe Meline noted Grams will also lead the symphony in one of his personal favorites: Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances.” And for the rest of the 2017-2018 season, the symphony is offering free tickets to first responders and those who lost their homes in the North Bay Fires. Details here.
