On May 23, 2017, the President sent his full budget proposal to Congress for Fiscal Year (FY) 2018, which begins in less than five months. Like the “skinny budget” issued in mid-March, it proposes eliminating public media funding altogether.

Federal funding enables KQED and other pubic media stations to provide you with high-quality educational, news, local, and cultural programming and emergency and community-based services for free.

If you disagree with the President’s budget proposal, please reach out to your district’s representative and tell them why public media is important to you.
