Eason Ramson, , Director of CARE Program, YMCA SF Bayview Hunters Point, is best known for his years playing for the San Francisco 49ers. During his last few years in the NFL Eason found himself caught up in a fast-paced lifestyle of drugs and alcohol and upon retirement he was supporting a $1,000-a-day drug habit. After years of drug abuse it ultimately proved to be too much and he found himself imprisoned for nearly 10 years.
After his release from prison Eason successfully completed a rehabilitation program and went on to form his own non-profit called "Pros and Cons for Kids" to help young people learn coping skills, self-esteem and life skills to better their future. The last fourteen years Eason has worked with intercity youth in San Francisco as program director and providing youth empowerment programs. Currently, Eason works for the Bayview Hunter's Point YMCA where he is the Senior Director for Academic Re-entry and Empowerment (CARE) San Francisco's first truancy abatement program which provide students intensive educational support, youth advocacy, leadership engagement activities, life skills & empowerment curriculum, health & wellness programs, financial planning, recreational activities, and an intense mentor matching program.
The Rev. Dr. Joseph Bryant, Jr., Senior Pastor, Calvary Hill Community Church, has been the visionary leader of the Calvary Hill Community Church of San Francisco since 1996. Since that time, Dr. Bryant has initiated numerous programs in education, health, financial literacy, workforce development, at risk services and counseling, in order to impact the congregation, the community, and the world. A skilled community organizer, Dr. Bryant has forged and facilitated effective partnerships with Wells Fargo Bank, CA Pacific Medical Center, UCSF Hospital, the SF Health Advisory Council, Bayview Senior Center, Young Community Developers, College Track, Renaissance Parents of Success, SF Office of Economic Development, SF Department of Public Works, JobsNow and the National Council on Aging to name a few. The Calvary Hill campus provides a satellite location for the SF Family Service Agency, and in 2012 opened a community youth center called THE R.O.C.K. (Reaching Our Community & Kids), which offers homework assistance, computer training and animation, social skills development, athletics, and is a certified afterschool and nutrition location for school aged children in San Francisco.
