8/25-9/02: work on Monument Peak transmitter (all DT54s)

Our Monument Peak transmitter, providing signals for 54.1 KQED Plus, 54.2 KQED, 54.3 KQED Life, 54.4 KQED Kids, and 54.5 V-me, will need to reduce power at random times over the next 10 days or so. Also expected sometime in the next 2 days is that it will be off the air for what could be 4 to 6 hours.

Our engineering team will do its best to minimize the outages and inconveniences our viewers may experience. The changes we are making should increase the DT54 signal strength for the entire San Francisco Bay Area.

Please note that these changes should not affect our viewers on Comcast. Hopefully, neither should it affect our DirecTV and Dish Network viewers. If you are an Over The Air viewer, you might be able to receive the KQED Plus signal from our KQED transmitter located on Mt. Sutro in San Francisco on KQED 9.2.

Thank you for your patience during this upgrade, and we’ll update this blog when installation of the new equipment is complete.
