A great Friday story if ever there was one!

This British documentary looks at aging through the lens of six women in their 70s, 80s and 90s. But not just any women, these women are Fabulous Fashionistas who dress "with style and panache that belies their advancing years," according to the film's website. Check it out:

Ostensibly, it's about older women who dress in a fabulously distinctive fashion. In truth, the fashion is an outgrowth of their personal dynamism, the cheeky strength of spirit with which they approach living.

It's not that they don't have problems. One woman will probably never get another job. Some can run up a hill, and others can't. Most have lost husbands. But where many of us would respond to life's insults by curling up into a ball in bed, these women rise up, do 40 minutes of stretching and live more vigorously. With panache. With an attitude best described as punk. One woman says, "I don't give a damn what people think about me." Heck, yeah! Cue the Sex Pistols! Seriously, some of these women do wear Doc Martins.

Perhaps the BBC4 team that put this together selected for audacious positivity. Or perhaps they did so unintentionally when they looked for ladies who cut an impressive figure on the street, on stage, in the House of Lords.  Who knows? The end product is a truly uplifting discussion of how to live well while living long.
