I hope this is a truly fulfilling professional development experience for you. In order for your to maximize the benefits you receive from participating in the Institute, I've listed some words of wisdom from past participants (and some of my own).
- You are part of a community of educators excited and enthusiastic about building their skills to further engage young people in science. Capitalize on this fabulous opportunity to learn from and collaborate with your peers!
- Meet regularly with your team, communicate often, and provide each other support.
- Laugh and be patient with yourself.
- Try new things and stretch your imagination.
- Don't be a perfectionist.
- Share ideas with other educators.
- Work with your district or organization to solve any bandwidth or firewall issues.
- Start your projects early.
- Don't be afraid to ask the Institute instructors for help. They're only a phone call or email away.
- Attend the follow-up trainings.
- Schedule the site visit with the QUEST Ed staff. Use this time wisely.
- Take advantage of every opportunity offered to you. The more you put into the Institute, the more you'll get out of it!
